Hello everyone!
Since my previous post a couple of weeks ago I've had several great conversations around risk management in public higher education. I appreciate everyone who has volunteered for my doctoral dissertation study as these discussions have been incredibly helpful.
One theme that is already emerging is the difference in areas of responsibilities. Some professionals operate primarily in occupational or operational risk (safety, EHS, emergency management), while others work closer to enterprise risk, such as insurance, finance and administration compliance, and contracts.
This distinction aligns closely with frameworks like COSO's Enterprise Risk Management, Integrating with Strategy and Performance, which differentiates operational risk controls from enterprise-level risk that informs decision-making.
I'm currently seeking additional participants who:
-
Work at small to mid-sized public higher education institutions
-
Are not classified as R1 or R2
-
Hold roles in risk management, compliance, safety, audit, emergency management, or related areas
-
Have insight into how operational and enterprise risk responsibilities are structured or combined
Interviews are confidential, conversational, and focused on professional experience, not institutional evaluation.
If you believe your perspective would be a good fit, please feel free to message me or email me at michael.crutchfield@calbaptist.edu.
If you know anyone that would be a great fit for the study, please feel free to share this information. I appreciate it!
