We are reviewing potential HRIS and Payroll systems. Does anyone have recommendations for either combined or standalone systems?

    Thanks you,
    Chris

The University transitioned to Dayforce approximately seven years ago, and it has been a significant improvement over our previous ERP payroll module. Overall, we have been satisfied with the system. Dayforce handles tax remittances on our behalf and provides robust functionality for managing a wide range of payroll scenarios.

That said, like any software platform, it has its challenges. The company can be slow to respond to tax-related issues, and the system struggles with certain student employment tax situations, particularly when students have permanent addresses in other states. To address this, we designated the University campus as the student's residence address while maintaining their home address as the mailing address.

For context, we employ approximately 1,900 student workers.

We are in the midst of a HRIS/Payroll transition away from Paycor. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Paycor.

UT San Antonio Health recently completed a phased in transition from our legacy HR & Payroll system in Peoplesoft to Oracle HCM Cloud over the last two years. I was peripherally involved in the implementations, but you can learn more about our journey here: Modernizing HR for growth: UT San Antonio's Oracle HCM Cloud journey | Baker Tilly

We implemented Paycom in December, and it has not been a great experience. Paycom encouraged us to do a rapid implementation, which was a mistake. Don't let anyone tell you they can implement in less than 6-9 months. We are dealing with a lot of issues that should have been resolved during implementation. In addition, Paycom oversold their ability to integrate with Ellucian Banner. We have been trying to connect with other Banner schools to see how they integrated Paycom payroll data into Banner Finance, and today Paycom told us none of the references they were trying to connect us with have actually done an integration. Sounds like they are using FUPLOADs to import each individual payroll, which is a step backwards for us.

We too implemented Paycom many years ago, and while it has benefited the HR team greatly, we have gone backward in the finance area. We do upload after each payroll using FUPLOAD after making sure the files balance.  They told us they do not allow for direct integration to Paycom. Paycom also does not allow for cross bank payroll corrections, so these corrections are done within our Banner system.

    Chris,

We have used Paycom for several years, while we've had some issues overall it has been adequate for our needs.  Jenzabar is our main system, while they don't integrate we have a solid processes for uploading payroll information after each payperiod.  If you would like to discuss details please direct message me and I can connect you with our payroll manager.
