  • 1.  Endowment Software - Fundriver vs Adavico

    Posted 3 days ago

If there are any institutions out there that have vetted Endowment software in recent years, we would be interested in any comments that you have on the differences i.e. pros/cons of one versus the other.  We are a private institution with about $5,000 FTE and about 500 endowment accounts.  We are looking to automate our Excel based endowment pool process this year.

    Hi Catherine,

I work in the endowment space with many colleges and universities. Both systems do a good job tracking endowments, unitizing, and adding automation to the endowment process. They both have audit ready reporting. The big difference is that Adavico offers a service where their team manages and enters your information for you. Your team will manage the Fundriver database, which is more work, but it does offer you more flexibility to quickly make changes. Both systems offer additional modules or add ons depending on your stewardship and other needs.

    Thanks,

    Jessica

We've been using Fundriver for about five years now and it's worked great for us. We have over 2,300 endowments and the automated spending and admin fee works great. We also use the investment manager module and that works great as well. We previously used multiple excel spreadsheets to manage things before Fundriver, and now we only have one for uploading our investment manager information. Also, if you have exceptions, Fundriver can manage that as well and you can have export templates set up that you can use to import the journal entries into your accounting management system.
